Hey, my first post here and to tell you we just picked up ours and experienced the same thing. So, thanks for posting this before me, and thanks everyone else for putting our minds at ease. I figured it was something similar, coatings or whatever, but it smells so much like oil that I was a little worried. I told my wife the same thing, give it a few days, we have some long drives, if it doesn't go away, then worry. Hopefully, it'll go away as you all say!

There is nothing to worry about. Mine had the same smell and it went away after 2 or 3 days.

Default Smells at 48,00 Km

Hi - first post for me with my used 2010 A4 Avant. I certainly does smell like something is burnig, but not all of the time.. don't know why I am posting this other than to chime in.

Of course, when I go to the dealership it does not smell! Kind of concerned though because everything should have burned off by now.

Default burning smell inside cabin of Q5

I discovered the burning smell is actually came from air-con water dripping on hot mid pipe. This is another design fault bu Audi.

Turned out to be too many dead leaves and the like in the plenum.. once cleaned out it is fine. It will need to be done annually and as I see that is part of the service schedule. As I try to do most of my own minor servicing this will be a part of it.

Not the same as the OP, but good to know none the less.
