Default Broken MMI3G button

Not sure whether this should go in the model forum or the MMI forum, but I own a Q5, so here goes:

Some time ago the main button for my MMI started falling off - this is the tiny black sliver used when you click "select" or attempt to move the map pointer. I could typically get it to stick on for a week at a time, so I made a mental note to get it fixed "in the future".

Well, it got completely lost the other day and I'm left with a rather sharp spike...! And, a quick phone call to the Audi dealer tells me that bits & pieces like this are only subject to a 1yr warranty. So: if they attempt to hit me up for $500 to replace a 29c part, are there any aftermarket alternatives?

Has anyone else had this problem and solved it?

if under 50k it's a warranty issue. Mine fell off as well. It's a tiny plastic part no worries.

For everything there is an original spare part.
As you can see in the picture
Price in Europe is 20 Euro

Gulp :-) Well, better than I thought, but still pretty pricey! :-) I have an appt on Friday and I'll see if the dealer will do me a solid, otherwise I'll fork over the $30USD.

I lost it the other day. Just had it replaced along with a 5k service with no charge. It should be covered. Also, you could push down the big silver ring as a click "select" for the time being.
