Battery coding
Hello I know everywhere is alot of threads about that, but I wanna fit Exide premium 12V 100ah 900A into my Audi Q5 quattro 2.0 tdi 125kw (2010, Caha) but I wasnt able to find some proper coding to this battery, I just found bem codes to 95 ah or 105ah I dont know what to choose. I can do it through vcds, but I dont have idea how to code this one, can anyone help me please with coding or recomending what battery should I use here? Thank you all

BEM code is just an arbitrary number. It means nothing to the vehicle.
First set of characters is the battery part number
Second set is the battery vendor
Third set is the serial number
Even if you're installing a non-Varta battery just use the formula below. Like I said earlier, it's just a number for the vehicle. Let the car keep thinking there's a Varta in there.
You're going to want to change any one of the digits in the serial number. That's the last set of (usually) 10 characters
Let's say your current BEM is: 000915105DL VA0 350215F13Y
Enter the new BEM as: 000915105DL VA0 350215F14Y
Get the idea? It's seriously that simple. Just change one of the characters in the last group of characters.
Car will recognize a new number has been entered and treat the battery as if it's new.
You're done.

Thank you for explanation and for your time, I just wanted to ask if I should use BEM code for 95ah or 110 ah battery in this case, because this Exide battery is 100AH and 105ah bem code is for AGM. So I wanted to know if I should use lower or higher number in this case, so everything will work and charge properly =)

Like I said, car won't know the difference no matter what number you use.
Putting a higher amperage battery in there will only improve your storage capacity.

Just found this thread. Been without an Audi for a few years.
I want to swap a battery in my Mom's Q5. What software is used for the battery BEM? I have vagcom on an older lap top (think it still works LOL) and a Foxwell NT680. Can I use the Foxwell?
Thanks.
Mike

Does your Foxwell do battery coding on B8 Audi? If so, yes. If not, no.
"vagcom", you mean VCDS? Do you have a Ross-Tech cable compatible with a B8? HEX-CAN-COM, HEX-CAN-USB, etc. If the install is old enough that it was still called VAG-COM, then that's probably a no.
VCDS can do the battery adaptation, OBDeleven can only do it with the PRO subscription, Carista might be able to do it (active subscription), I would expect some level of Foxwell devices have battery coding function but I don't bother sorting out which ones do what.
If a car needed a power source to prevent loss of settings while the battery is disconnected, then one would want to connect a power source while the battery is disconnected. The B8 is not one of those, but as the owner's manual says, you'll need to redo the auto-up/down on the windows after a power loss.

I don't think Foxwell can write vehicle code. Only read CEL's. Maybe it can clear but that's about it.
VCDS is free software but it can only be used with an authorized interface. ie, OBD-II. Some Chinese OBD-II makers claim their **** works with VCDS but it's unlikely.
There's also the OBDeleven option which will perform a lot of what VCDS can do but with a much more watered down interface. Less bells and whistles, extremely user friendly and a whole lot cheaper.
and.....what's this BS about needing to have the car connected to a power source while changing the battery? Never heard of that on ANY car.
