Default Ball Mount Question for OEM Hitch

What hitch/ball mounts are you guys using and where did you get them from? OEM ball mount is $100+ , seems a bit high for just a ball mount. Any one know what size the OEM ball is?

Would suspect it is the small 1 1/4" receiver and ball since the towing capacity is low... and there are really only two sizes here in the states --- now ROW - sorry can't help

Almost anywhere sells them, Walmart, Target, home depot.... etc...

expect to pay less than $20 for a ball and mount....

good to see where your trailer is close to level and get the proper dropped (or raised) mount to make it as level as possible...

In North America there is 4 categories for receiver size:

- 1 1/4"
- 2"
- 2 1/2"
- 3"

and ball sizes are:
- 1 7/8"
- 2"
- 2 5/16"

Audi Q5 OEM North America receiver is 2"

Ball is depended on your trailer.

Who cares about the cost, buy one and tow a trailer

Hahaha. Cost matters if your foolish with cash. I have no issue with the $100+ if there's something special about the Audi mount. But if $50 is more practical then I'd rather put the saved cash in the gas tank to tow something. ;-)
Thanks for the info, 2" hitch, seems most things I would need to tow would use 2" ball. Prob easier to just get a couple dif ball mounts rather than change ball for occasional times I'll use it.
:-)

The cost is up to the drawbar and raise.

Steel drawbars are about 25-40 bucks.

Aluminum drawbars are around 35-50 bucks.

Adjustables are another story (my adjustable from the truck doesn't fit as the receiver is so far in)

Ok. It's a 2" receiver, need 2" ball.
Now, is OEM US spec Audi tow hitch a class 2 or class 3?
Good to go after get that answer.
Thanks guys.

I use several different recievers (all 2") and have three sized ***** depending on what I am towing. You can get them anywhere. get straight or drop or ones wiht 2 or 3 different ***** depending on what you need. Some are chrome and some are painted.

I'm using a 2" drop and 2" ball for my Kayak trailer.
