Overall, Audi sold 9,205 luxury cars and SUVs in May 2010, topping the previous May record of 8,788 vehicles sold in May 2007.

I am a big numbers freak... Something interesting to point out with the August numbers:
Q5 was the second best selling model in the line up.
- A4 had 2,860 sales with a Yr/Yr % Change of -25.2% for the month of August
- Q5 had 2,675 sales with a Yr/Yr % Change of 78.8% for the month of August
vs
- A4 had 2,665 sales with a Yr/Yr % Change of -14.0% for the month of July
- Q5 had 1,930 sales with a Yr/Yr % Change of 88.7% for the month of July
Damn, look at that sales spike from month to month. My guess is that the lower entry point of the 2.0T brought in a whole new set of buyers who weren't in the market for a $40k+ lux CUV.
I am a betting man, and my bet is that the Q5 will surpase A4 sales in the month of September. Especially since inventory was tight for Q5s in the month of August (with so much of them bought before they arrived at the dealer and the first full month where 2011 models were at the dealers unlike the month of July) so there were some lost sales for that month. With the September month having dealers lots stocked with a Holiday weekend thrown in, sales should be more fluid.

the same here in Europe
waiting time is now min. 8 monthes and there is here in Belgium no single stock-Q5 to buy instantly (one year ago I culd choose from 44 cars...); in most showrooms there are nowadays none to look at, and if you want to test one, you have to book at the import-company.
