Well I know there are a few of these, but figured I'd throw a slightly different angle on this thread, one about self-tuning vs. pre-packaged tunes.

So we all know that the stock 3.0T engine in the Q5 is identical to that of the SQ5 engine, but has been detuned. There are a number of mass market tunes available: GIAC, APR, etc... But am also familiar that there are custom tunes available for VW/Audi vehicles: NefMoto - Index

Was wondering if anyone here has done any 3.0T custom tunes and their feedback? I'm a tinkerer by nature and hence was looking at what I could do myself, but found near nothing re: the 3.0T engine...lots of tunes are available for legacy engines: 1.8T, 2.0T, 2.7T. TIA

I don't think they are identical engines. There are a few internal parts that are beefed up on the SQ5 from Q5 engines. Besides the tune and extra intercooler.

Pretty sure Nefmoto doesn't work on newer ECU's.

Exactly... They are focused on legacy units and was wondering if anyone on the forum is familiar with options for newer ECUs.

I would ask on the Nefmoto forum. Those guys would probably know if there is something out there.
