645 mile road trip in 2013 Q5 2.0T
Decided to take off last weekend and head down Hwy. 395 along the eastern Sierra in California and Nevada for a quick camping trip. 645 miles later, I had been up and down mountain passes over 9000' in elevation, been on highways going 70+ mph and decended steep grades at only 20 mph (much of the time with the A/C running. I averaged 27 - 28 mpg and the Q performed flawlessly. I had no problems with transmission surges, steering notchiness and absolutely zero brake dust on the wheels after a lot of braking on the steep declines even with engine braking. The Q now has over 3000 on the odometer and the MMI oil guage still registers full. And here's a plus, I was able to sleep comfortably in the back of the Q with the seats folded flat using a sleeping bag and an inflatible foam camping pad. I am 5'10". And after dark at the campsite before going to sleep, I watched a DVD on the NAV/Media screen complete with surroundsound. My only complaint is having to wash off all the insects from the front of the Q5 grille after driving so many miles!

Very nice....Beautiful pictures...Beautiful car..
I think the 2.0 is one of the best cars on the road.
Great gas mileage and enough power to make it a exciting trip.
Audi knows how to make them.. And with gas prices seeming to
be headed up you can still drive and not have to take out a line
of credit to fill up!!

Very nice !
Although the DVD feature is nice, I would be afraid to watch a movie in it just running on batteries! Unless you had the Q running the entire time?
It would suck to have a dead battery in the middle of no where !

No, the engine was not running. It was a 2 hour movie and didn't appear to make a dent in the battery power. Since there are small battery powered DVD players available, I doubt that they use much power. The Q started right up the next morning.

That's fantastic. Wish I could take a similar trip.
I'll be taking the Q5 on an 1600 mile trip in week to Hilton Head. I'm amazed of your mpg. Hopefully I can get something similar. I'm calculating around 23 mpg for mostly highway driving.

Nice pics. Where is that?
By the way, I hope you weren't eating in the Q5. Looks like there could have been potential for a bear to come and break open the Q5 in the middle of the night!

You should easily exceed 23 mpg and more likely get 27+ for highway driving. Staying under 70 mph helps.

It was Big Pine campground outside of Big Pine, south of Bishop, CA. The campground was at 7600' elevation with a steep winding road to get there. Here's another photo of the campsite. There is a stream on the opposite side of the table. And there 12,000' high mountain peaks at the rear behide the trees. An occupant of a nearby campsite complimented me on my beautiful Audi which was nice.

Wow, nice! Actually I have plans to do something similar this Summer in the Washington Cascades.
One question. How do you like sleeping in the car, instead of pitching a tent? Back when I went camping with my son on scout trips, one of the dads eschews even the tent, choosing to sleep under the stars.
