You don't say where you live. Do you have an 8R Q5 (1st generation) or a FY Q5 (2nd generation). For 8R Q5's, the answer is no.

I'm California so my 2017 is an 8R.

1st gen only possibility is a CarPlay box or an android screen (7” looks OEM) with a CarPlay usb dongle.

The 2017 USA & Canada Q5 was the last year of the 1st generation (8R) Q5.
The 2017 European Q5 was the first year of the 2nd generation (FY) Q5.

So when you look for an aftermarket CarPlay interface, know in advance which version of MMI you have. You can check your window sticker or check your MMI hardware / firmware info screen.

Note this is a 1st gen Q5 (2009-2017) B8 or B8.5 forum. Have a 2009 Q5 with android screen and CarPlay upgrade was also possible.

Most difficult retrofits would be engine start stop, and 3 zone pipeline upgrade, but in theory all other retrofits or upgrades are possible. (Apart from some chassis changes and transmission case upgrades e.g external transmission filter)

Android touch screen and CarPlay are considered medium upgrade difficulty.

any chance you can link to the video and/or page? I just picked up the carlinkit and am just now searching for installation instructions.

for future reference, these two connectors are not used for 2010 Q5 with 3G MMI/Nav.

How's that pioneer treating you? Would you recommend it?

Sorry for being off topic. Maybe you or somebody else can help me. I'm searching for a new stereo. I've been reading reviews about Pioneer decks but they are useless hype. All the positives are covered and they rarely mention the drawbacks.
The AVH-210EX head unit landed on my short list. From all the blogs that I've read one stood out. The blogger was hyper critical about all brands and put me on the fence. Well this AVH-210EX stereo review was OK until I've reached the shortcomings section.
How hard is to install these units anyways? Can I use my iPod classic with it?

Any tips?

To be honest, I've yet to have any negatives about it. I have the Avic-8400 and I love everything about it. I have crappy speakers in my Porsche and the Pioneer drives them and breathed new life into them. The Loudness function really improved the sub frequencies. My installation was complicated only because I was installing a backup camera and GPS receiver into a Mid-engine sports car. The Installation turned out to be straight forward. The feature set of the radio is pretty much everything you'd want.
