2013 Stereo Popping
Has anyone experienced their stereo popping and cutting out? I have been listening to Sirius, FM and Media when its happened. It sounds like someone just put raw power to the speakers, really loud (kinda like plugging in a guitar with the volume up on the amp). Then the MMI resets for a second then everything comes back.
I've had this happen 2-3 time since I got the car but 3 times in the last week... I'm ready to take it in under warranty but I'm looking for some feedback before I do that.

Thanks,

Does it happen outside of using Sirius? I get a similar issue when using the radio or cd. I have B&O, but Im disappointed that a $6k system is of such poor quality. Randomly i get a sound that sounds like radio interference in a muted tone. I think I've read on another thread that this is a known problem. The dealer installs vibration dampening material, but it is outrageous that i can outfit my entire media room in my house for the amount Audi charges for B&O and it is not audiophile perfect.

Yip, same issue. Would not call it "popping" though. More like a bang. First time it happened I thought I hit something.
Totally random.
Mentioned it last time I took the car in with a reference to a fix for a similar problem found on the S4 models, but they claimed that it is not for my car.
Furthermore, because it is random and can not be reproduced on demand, it is difficult to diagnose.
My car is a 2013 3.0t.

I agree it is more of a bang. It will scare you the first time it happens.
It has happened to every source except Bluetooth and CD (but i rarely use those)
I got 10k left on my warranty. I will have to get it into the shop to see what they say.

Could be a bad component or just a loose wire. But your car should still be under warranty, no?
"Takee Fixee"
Let the dealer worry about it. They'll probably check the harness, road test it, road test it some more (ride along to see) and then tell you to bring it back while they order in a new radio if they can't find a wiring problem.
