Default 2012 Q5 Mechatronics Replacement

Hi,
I am an owner of a 2012 Q5 with less than 40k miles. Recently, the car was parked on a hill for an extended period of time. On attempting to drive it for the first time, the gear shifter was stuck in park and would not budge. Tried alleviating transmission pressure and using the shift solenoid to no avail. I got it towed to my local Audi service center and they have determined that the mechatronics is fried and needs to be replaced, and the OEM shifter is broken and needs replacing as well. They quoted me $8,000 for the mech replacement and $2,000 for the shifter. This is my first experience with these issues. Are these reasonable prices? This seems extraordinarily expensive to me! Please advise.
Thank you!

With older vehicles you need to get a bit creative. Paying $8k for a mechatronic replacement is completely insane. Find a good independent mechanic. A mechatronic repair kit costs about $400 and a good transmission shop can do the work.
