Most stolen SUV's/CUV's, including most unrecovered: http://www.thedetroitbureau.com/2014...-to-be-stolen/
Original release here, with more specifics if you click on the embedded link to the full report: https://www.nicb.org/newsroom/news-r...-suvs-and-cuvs Didn't find Audi, or Euro SUV's in general, anywhere in the report when I skimmed it.

This is true. However, European brands (MB, BMW, Audi, LR) are more susceptible to armed thefts as thieves want the Key fob from the driver. It's happening at an alarming rate in upscale malls in NY and NJ.
I'd rather they took the vehicle and have no incident of a gun to my head.

I think it's more to do with how easy it is for thieves to sell on the car in other countries. Or how easy it is for them to get good value from stripping parts from the car. Here in the UK we have GAP insurance which effectively covers you for the first 3 years to insure you get the full value of what you paid for the car on the day you bought it. We'll worth it if you're buying a car worth £20k+

GAP Insurance
GAP Insurance is also known as Guaranteed Auto Protection or Guaranteed Asset protection. GAP is an optional purchase; however, many states in the US require that a car dealership offer GAP at the point of purchase.
Have a read of this:

Make sure to check with your insurance company before buying GAP coverage. Some, like mine, don't sell it and even though they insure for replacement value, in the rare case where it's less than the outstanding principal they'll pay enough to cover the loan. Others won't, like Progressive; they will offer explicit GAP coverage - which is if I remember from comparison-shopping about $1-$2/month on a 36/48mo loan. Since the policy is renewed every six months it can be dropped when it's no longer meaningful. (When the loan is paid down enough.) So in the end it would cost you $15 or so. A pittance, really.

My dealer offered it in such a way as to imply it would be a real gamble not to. By the time all of the extras were tacked on, well...I'm glad I did. Never before have I put this much down on a vehicle and still been upside-down driving off the lot.
