Default Does it matter where I go for an alignment?

Would you recommend going to an Audi dealer, any mechanic, a mechanic that specializes in foreign cars, etc... for an alignment/tire rotation?

On these vehicles, I am going to suggest heading to the dealer and get it done right the first time.

I'd look for a coupon or a "special" to keep the price down.

Don't go to any mechanic for the alignment...Audis require some sort of specialized equipment, not sure if specific to VW/Audis or because it's 4 wheel drive. So either the dealer, or a mechanic/garage which specifically supports Audis.

The backup camera overlay is also re-aligned as part of the alignment process so I would recommend heading to your local dealer.

When I had my Subaru WRX, I was told to make sure I went to a place that could do AWD alignments. How it was described was that all 4 wheels needed to be aligned at the same time on 1 machine. I only found a few garages that had the equipment and were aware of the limitations of 2 wheel alignment on AWD cars.

Not sure if its BS or what, but that's what I was told.

I was told - just for yet another reason, but since Audi uses the 5 point suspension and whatever fancy stuff in the back that they have to been done on a special machine. Most all other cars use the McPherson Strut set up which is completely different. Since it is a 5 point system that is the reason all 4 wheels have to aligned together at the same time, where a McPherson setup doesn't require any touching of the back wheels. I was told this has nothing to do with it being a AWD and everything to do with the 5 point set up vs Mcpherson strut set up. A mechanic at a shop (non-Audi) told me this, it sounded good at the time and correct since he was trying to turn away my business.
