Let's Bombard Michelin With Phone Calls!
Hey There Fellow SQ5'rs with the 21" Tire Package:
Who wants to join me in contacting Michelin to request that they start manufacturing the Pilot Sport All Season 3 in our size? I figure the more phone call requests we make the sooner they will make them.
I spoke with them this morning and the rep indicated that they WILL make them in the 255/40/R21 size, just not sure when.
Give them a call at 1-866-866-6605 and cast your vote!

Michelin is strangely selective in their tire sizes. I reluctantly avoided those beautiful 21s because of the limited tire selection and was pleased to see PSS in the stock tire size for 20s. The PS A/S 3 is definitely something to fight for. If they plan to make it, getting people involved might push it forward, but from seeing how long it takes the PSS sizes to be released, it might be awhile.

I called them last year, but all I got was "we have no information if the AS3 will be available in your size, please check back". I have at least 2 more seasons left on the summer rubber, so if Michelin decides to release them within next couple of years, I'll be happy.

Do you know how much it costs to develop a new model of different sizes
Pilot Sport AS not intended for SUV car. Michelin has a Latitude series for SUV cars

I'm well-aware of the SUV vs sport sedan tire argument. Have no interest in starting that up again. What I can tell you, spujin, is that those of us with SQ5s with 21" wheels are itching for alternatives to the Dunlop and Pirelli summer tire options we have now. Simple as that.
Oh, and yes, I was well-aware of this issue when I ordered my SQ5 last year. So, at least I have that going for me......

That's one of the several reasons I did not get an SQ5. There's no tire that I can find that's less than $400 a pop. And only 1 tire was on Tire Rack.
The 20" SQ5 wheel looks very plain and boring. My 5 arm 20" on the 3.0T Q5 looks much better.
The 21" is indeed a hot looking rim. But $1600 worth of tires is too much to swallow for me.
Lets hope there are some other choices are available down the road.
I drove one car with the new AS3 Michelin. I was surprised a bit on how noisy it was in a 19" tire and a little dissapopinted. I've read a few other people that said the same thing.

I studied the Michelin AS3 thoroughly this past week because I'm thinking about replacing the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S on my RS4 (great tire BTW, but no longer available). My conclusion: The AS3 wouldn't even be my first choice for the RS4, yet alone an SUV. They are basically a very good summer tire with a rough ride, so-so wet traction, and poor snow/ice capability. They're not even recommended for freezing temperatures. Calling them A/S is a bit of a stretch IMO, at least for use in my climate anyway. I'd pick them over a pure-summer tire for summer use only, if those were my only choices. But there's lots of other good A/S tires to choose from. By the way, "all season" is a marketing misnomer for most.

I love my AS3's- every bit as good as my summer tires and awesome in wet conditions. I live in Texas so no winter stuff to compare them to.
I may not know what I am talking about as I only had a full sponsorship as a Pro-Mod driver for 15 years....
Wait....scratch that...I have 55/45ZR20 Michelin PILOT SPORT A/S 3 PLUS BSW...
Crap....I don't know...dang Booker's Whisky.....
