Default MMI jukebox problem!!

Hello!

I have some trouble after importing music to the MMI Jukebox on a SD-card.

Lets say when importing 10 albums, only 1-2 are showing all the information i want.
(Artist - Album - Track-titles)

The majority of the imports only show track-titles.
I usually get "Unknown artist" and "unknown album".
AND what is really weird is that the info when viewing the media on a laptop, its all the same!!
No copyright - no protection etc..
All the necessary information is visible..

SO, why doesn't the MMI recognise all this after the import is done???

Help is much appreciated..

Thomas

Thomas-
I am guessing that these are MP3 files? And if you have software that optionally rips music or converts file formats, you may find there are at least three different standards for how all of the tag information can be encoded in MP3 files. So if Audi wants to see one format, and you've got files made with a different one...you'll need to recode the files into whatever standard keeps the Audi happy.

I've noticed other quirks on the basic AMI system. Like, the car doesn't recognize track numbers (at all) so unless tracks in an album are generated as ##Name with the track number up front as part of the actual file name, you can't even play the tracks in an album (folder) sequentially, they'll always go in alphabetic order. Madness, yes?

Audi MMI is very picky about the format of the tags in MP3 files. MMI balks at tags that have multiple values as allowed in ID3v2.3. I use a program called MP3Tag to convert all tags to the most basic format and then rewrite the tags to a more modern format. This gets rid of tag data that MMI does not like. Here are the steps I use:

1. Open your MP3 files in MP3Tag
2. Select all files and write ID3v1 tags (select in options, write)
3. Select all files and remove ID3v2.3 tags (select in options, remove)
4. Edit the title, artist, genre, track, etc. fields as needed
5. Select all files and write ID3v2.3 UTF-16 tags (select in options, write)
6. Select all files and remove ID3v1 tags (select in options, remove)
