But if you do order 8R0 807 819 H, what do you actually receive...the uncut plate that you have to cut yourself? I ordered 8R0 807 819 J and it came cut, as pictured.

Maybe Mark P or whoever just received the full piece with the hitch installed can see what the P/N on their cover reads.

In the catalog of spare parts still exists 8R0 807 819 J, but he was replaced with a new number 8R0 807 819 H
He might have got a model: trailer hitch preparation 1D8

Yoshimura and Cardmember, how did you guys do such a clean cut? Did you do it yourself?

I don't understand why they don't install the cut trim at the port after installing the hitch. They shouldn't just leave it all open without the trim piece like they're doing.

That was my heartache as well...especially since they make that piece that's already cut. The only thing I can think of is Audi is trying to save money by putting it on the customer/dealer to cut the trim by providing a universal piece.

Sorry but, that's ridiculous savings of $ 60 per car, Audi does not sell a lot of the Q5 with tow hitch in the U.S. market

I did not order my '14 Q5 TDI with hitch option (ATH), but trailer hitch preparation 1D8 is listed in my PR-codes; must be standard inclusion for 2014.

Here is the final install. Sorry about the bad pictures... was raining here in sunny San Diego.

Audi San Diego totally worked with me and did an AMAZING job. The photos don't do it justice.

So after much reading it appears all one needs to do for an SQ5 is order the Audi hitch assembly and order part number 8R0 807 819 J to replace the uncut factory panel. Thanks!

Thanks for the pics from others that inspired me to cutout my own bumper plate cover after the dealer installed the hitch on my 2016 Q5. Can't believe Audi does not offer a similar pre-cut cover plate!
