Default B-Pillar Maintenance

How do you guys maintain your glossy black b-pillars? I follow the proper techniques for washing the vehicle but I still leave light scratches on the b-pillars that have to be polished out. Is anyone utilizing a method that works?

I'm also interested in this. I actually had to take the car back to dealer to address some paint blemishes and replace a windshield (they coordinated an insurance claim for me) after only 2 weeks of ownership. Everything was addressed but when I got the car back the b pillars looked horrendous. I was a bit fed up in general so just let it go. Figure I could polish them out. Plus the sooner I accept scratches are inevitable on this new car the better.

I find if it isn't scratched too badly usually a small coat of wax will get rid of the scratches for a while, but eventually it will need to get polished.

Check out Golf / GTI MK6 forums.

B-Pillars are covered with the same glossy plastic.

If you have a lot of scratches, you can always replace. There are:
Front:
-8R0837901Q 9B9 satin black - left and 8R0837902Q 9B9 satin black - right
-8R0837901P 5FQ black-glossy - left and 8R0837902P 5FQ black-glossy - right
Rear:
-8R0839901N 9B9 satin black - left and 8R0839902N 9B9 satin black - right
-8R0839901M 5FQ black-glossy - left and 8R0839902M 5FQ black-glossy - right

The pillars look like black plastic, in which case the color isn't a coating it is in the whole material and scratches can be polished out.

Many polish sets are for plastic. "Novus" is a reputable one for plexi and similar plastics, sold in most hardware stores in grades 1-2-3 each less abrasive. I'd try the least abrasive with a buffing pad and work up to what is needed. Also good for headlight covers.

Replacing with satin black is a thought but how do you remove them?

Actually I like this idea. Anyone know if these are easy to replace? Wonder how much they are.
