Default iPhone and Bluetooth

so if I have my phone blue toothed to the car, phone sounds on and MMI streaming not on, should I still be able to hear notification sounds, etc. from my phone? I use to hear all sounds until today and now for some reason when my phone is blue toothed, it's in silent mode - nothing at all. Not even the clicking sound when unlocking the phone. Anyone else having this issue? Audi says I should not be able to hear anything from my phone when it's blue toothed. I say, they why was I until today? And how are you to get audible alerts for messages, etc. when the phone is blue toothed?

Nope, all sounds are muted unless your streaming music from your iPhone, only then will you hear the notifications.

Interesting, I guess that the phone or car has been broken since new and mysteriously fixed itself today so that I can't hear alerts, notifications, etc.

Did you just update to the latest iOS? Maybe that changed it?

The recent iOS update (7.1.2) did address Bluetooth functionality.

I've noticed improvements with the use of headphones and other Bluetooth devices since updating my iOS devices.

Nope. No updates. I usually wait a few months after release before doing so.
