How much does an Audi replacement key cost?

Yes exactly.
Only you know the other company Mercedes, BMW prices are similar or even more expensive.
Do not forget that this is also protecting your car from theft

Purchased by Q5 used, and there was no "emergency key", so I'll probably have to suck it up and buy one. The holder is in the glove box, but no key.
Side question. The car's manual says that there is a check that shows how many keys have been coded to your vehicle. Mine shows 3, but I only have two of the electronic keys. Does that third one mean the emergency key or a third electronic one?
Thanks!

Emergency key can be ordered from your local Audi dealer he needs the car VIN and the price is around 50-60$

Stealership is an appropriate name
I just called my local Audi dealership as my husband dropped our fob in water. We blew it dry, put it in rice, it's been several days...we changed out the battery and it's dead. Price tag: $850!!!!!!!! Can't begin to believe that it costs that much for a new fob - then I'll be charged $169 to program all our fobs (the new one and the old one). That's over $1000 for a fob. Guess I'm not getting a new fob.

+3. # is way too high. If you have the key still, you actually just need the remote part and you insert the physical key back into it. Those are somewhere in the $100-200 range.
You should be able to buy from the discount web dealers too. I have done that before, but apparently without a prior relationship they are reluctant now. That's more on the cut key portion though--which is done by VIN with your car registration and ID so they can be sure you are legit. The remotes are just generic Q5 though until first programmed to a car.
Programming fee in my experience is typically the same no matter the key count, so if you feel short now, lost the plastic key or what ever, it only costs incremental parts charge to do more at same time.

Yes, $850
Thanks for the links! Will check them out. $850 was the price I was given by my stealership, yes. Plus an extra $169 to program all existing keys.
