Default Drive select missing

Bought new 2014 Q5 2.0T technique pkg(in Canada) - Great car but couple of issues.

Does not have drive select - thought drive select comes as standard like BMW but when got the car no drive select there was not even an option when we ordered (we ordered Nav and B&O sound as options).Which model is equipped with drive select? wanted to try Q5 in sports mode I guess can't now.
MMI seems to be complicated compare to I drive(BMW) - needs multiple button pushing before we get to something
Cruise control not on steering wheel, would be good to have controls on steering wheel instead separate stick on left side of steering wheel
Front parking sensor only activated when reversing or need manually turned on

Not a big deal need to get use to it. Is there a way we can keep front sensors ON? they say it is to avoid frequent alarm as it may set off with pedestrian crossing which I believe is the reason you need sensors.

For ADS ( Audi Drive Select ) you need VCDS and 5 minutes:
http://www.audienthusiasts.com/VagCom_FL_ADS.html
or in German but with Chrome with translator
http://www.stemei.de/pages/coding/au...riveselect.php

Different markets have different levels and equipment packages
ADS for Canada option is only for model Q5 3.0 TFSI quattro Technik - according to website

Front parking sensor

I think OP wants to have it on all the time instead of pressing the button.

I also ordered a 2014 Q5 2.0T with Nav and B&O, with S-Line. My understanding is that only the 3.0T and 3.0TDI with S-Line equipped package comes with ADS.

I just wanted to confirm a few things:

- The reason the 3.0T and TDI with S-Line comes with ADS is hardware and software based.
- The 2.0T does not have the necessary hardware to enable ADS via VCDS

Is this correct?

i have a 2013 q5 2.0t....ADS comes with S-line package only.....without the s-line package, q5 wouldn't have ADS....

i think it might be software based only....i could be wrong though....

Interesting...you have the S-Line select package?

For 2014, the following are S-Line choices:

S line Sport Package
• 19" 5-arm star design wheels with all-season tires: 235/55
• S line exterior
• Sport seats with leather seating surfaces
• Flat-bottom 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel with shift paddles
• S line door sills
• Brushed aluminum inlay
• Black interior headliner

S line Sport Select Package
• 19" 5-arm star design wheels with all-season tires: 235/55
• S line exterior
• Adaptive Damping Suspension
• Audi Drive Select Controls (auto, comfort, dynamic)

• Sport seats with leather seating surfaces
• Flat-bottom 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel with shift paddles
• S line door sills
• Brushed aluminum inlay
• Black interior headliner

The 'Select' is only available for order on the 3.0 T and TDI. The description also led me to believe it is hardware (and software) dependent, ie. the 'Adaptive Damping Suspension'. I wonder if it is just software based. I have a Ross-Tech cable. I take delivery of the new Q5 in about 3-4 weeks.

Forgot to add:

I have the S-Line, but not S-Line 'Select'.

in 2013, they only offer 1 s-line package, which is the s-line select and it is what i have on my 2.0t......maybe in 2014, they splitted into two packages....

so i do have the damping suspension...not sure if that is HW based or software emulated....

spijun,

I take it you are the tech expert, based on your various posts I've read.

Can you advise if enabling ADS via software is enough, or does the S-Line 'Select' include different hardware, ie. dampers?

NVM: I'm 99% certain the ADS system comes with different hardware. Therefore it seems that even if you're able to enable ADS via VCDS, it won't actually do anything unless you have the hardware set up for it.

Of course you can if you have the adequate shock absorbers, it is impossible to do with standard shock absorbers

On all models you can use ADS for the engine and transmission

Audi Drive Select

Mastery of driving dynamics: Audi drive select integrates the technical components that determine the quality of the driving experience – the engine, transmission, steering (optional), shock absorbers (optional) and the sport differential (optional). Drivers can adjust the characteristics of these systems at any time to suit their personal preferences.

A custom-tuned vehicle: the innovative driving dynamics system Audi drive select enables drivers to adjust the characteristics of the technical components – depending on their individual vehicle configuration these include the engine, transmission, steering, shock absorbers and the sport differential – to suit their personal preferences at any time. The result is the successful synthesis of outstanding comfort and sporty dynamics.

Via a button on the centre console, the driver selects one of three modes for Audi drive select – comfort, auto or dynamic – for characteristics ranging from outstandingly comfortable to intensely sporty. In combination with the optional MMI, you can put together your very own personal profile. You adapt the characteristics of the systems linked to Audi drive select to suit your individual preferences.

Audi drive select is only available in conjunction with dynamic steering, damper control and/or sport differential.
