Default 3.0T S line or SQ5

Almost ready to oder a new Q5 but I can't decide if it worth it to spend over 8K to get the SQ5 instead of the 3.0T S line...

Some concerns...

Is the SQ5 really more powerfull (torque) in normal driving condition?
Is the 3.0T suspension with ADS really more compliant on rough pavement?

I can't speak to the compliance of the ADS and the roads are pretty smooth here in southern AZ but the SQ5 rides very comfortably for the driver and all the passengers. The extra pull of the SQ5 is on tap through the range and the gear shifts are an absolute delight.

But I'm not biased.

I have had my tdi for about 2 weeks and I find it to be a compelling option. The most torque of any of the engines by far AND the best fuel economy as well. Urban legend has it that the fuel economy actually improves as the engine "breaks in".

Fortunate for us it is a nice choice to have. Sometimes final drive ratio gets forgotten about and this has to be considered if you are interested in acceleration over fuel economy.
3.0T has 295 lb ft of torque and a final drive ratio of 3.20
The TDI has 428 and a 3.08 ratio...wow!
SQ5 has 346 and a 3.76 ratio.
For comparison sake lets just multiply since they all have the same 8 speeds,
3.0T = 944
TDI = 1318...again...wow!
SQ5 = 1300 so at peak torque, albeit at higher RPM, the SQ5 has almost the same grunt as the TDI at vastly reduced fuel economy. This is definitely noticeable over the 3.0T but software and pulleys level the playing field again...if you are interested in going that route.

It's not a urban legend than truth.
After 10,000 km is less fuel consumption than now.
I had 8 TDI cars from VW Group

Audi Canada specifies a final gear ration of 3.08 for the SQ5...

It depends on what you are looking for. In the US price difference between SQ5 and 3.0T isn't that much so we went with SQ5.

Diesel is nice but as a principle I am not paying MORE for diesel since Americans completely got the pricing wrong. But they are fun to drive.

I suggest driving them all and making a decision.

It depends if you want your 3.0T with Sline and Sunroof, etc...

I went the SQ5 route after many months and driving all versions.
TDI is really apealing, it almost won. Thing is for MY15, colors and wheels were not what I wanted for my CUV, so we went with the SQ5.

SQ5 is pretty good value for the price (if you go for premium plus).

In the US, the s line is not available on the 3.0 in '15
