I finally made the time to make a service appointment about the peeling plastic panel on my front grille. The dealer replaced it under warranty with no argument. The South Austin Audi dealer has been consistently great to me!

I have been reading through and wanted to know if this is a problem on all of the Q5 front grills (including those with silver) with "black paint" peeling (maybe near the license plate holder) or is this a problem with the S-line black exterior grill?

The paint peeling has been a problem since I purchased my 2010 Q5 back in March 2010. Using a pressure washer to wash bugs off is what caused mine to start peeling. It appears to me that it is a manufacturing defect that they haven't bothered with to fix.

Q5 Peeling Front Grill
Mine is a black front grill on a Q5, not an S Line. I bought it new about a year ago and noticed it peeling a few months ago. I don't use high-pressure wash, but do live in hot Texas heat. I'm guessing that the faulty finish may present itself in extreme weather conditions? In any event, very happy that my dealer replaced the grill no questions asked.

Add my '14 Q5 TDI to the list. 6 months old, 11k miles. Was browsing through this thread and thought '...gee, I wonder if my car is experiencing this?' Went out to the garage for a look see and yup, me too! Have my 15k service coming up soon and will mention it to them then. We'll see how cooperative they are. Disappointed that Audi hasn't addressed this yet.

I had my car serviced today and asked them to look at the peeling plate. As I had expected, it was not replaced. The service manager said he had to consult with Audi first. He said he hadn't seen this issue before... I told him of this thread that it was a known defect. He will be following up with me on Friday. Very disappointing!

Q5 grill paint peeling
2015 Q5. 1800 miles on it. It's happpening on mine. Ordering me a new bumper too but why hasn't this been fixed? Obviously it's a problem. Service guy told me not to take mine through the car wash. REALLY??? I will remember to ask that question the next time I buy a $60k vehicle. Seriously??? Guess I will go back to GM.
