Well, searched my 2020 owners manual. Oil capacity is definitely not shown in owners manual. Searching the internet it seems 6 quarts is the answer. I have dealer change oil for me. My last invoice they charged me for 60 units of oil at .79 per unit. I’m guessing a unit =1/10 quart ? So 6 quarts ?
and congratulations on your new Q3. Great car, love mine

2 posts. 2 different answers. And that's what I get when I search. Half say 5.5 and half say 6. I cannot believe that the oil capacity is omitted from the owner's manual.

I found this thread searching for the answer to this same question. I just changed the oil in my 2023 Q3. I dumped in six quarts of oil, but the oil level is not at the top mark of the dipstick, suggesting it takes more than six quarts. It's about 2/3 of the way to the full mark. So I know it takes at least six quarts, if not a bit more.

It was overfilled.
It takes 5.5 quarts.
Since the Q3 doesn't come with a dipstick, what dipstick are you using? There are 3 or so part number dipsticks that fit that engine, but many of them do not have the markings at the correct length.
Refill the engine with 5.5 quarts, replace the filter, start the engine, let it run for 2 minutes, shut it off, wait 10 minutes, then look at your dipstick. Wherever the oil level is, that is your real max is for whatever dipstick you are using.
