Oil Temperature Switch

Can someone tell me the location of the oil temperature switch on a 2000 A4 2.8 30v engine? I thought it was on the bottom of the oil pan, but that appears to be the oil level sender. My temp isn't working, so I would like to replace the switch. I haven't been able to locate it in the Bentley manual. Thanks

It's not a switch , it's a sensor.

I believe it's behind the timing belt on a V6, kind of a PITA.

I think you can get at that from behind the front engine cover, at least on a 12V.
May not be such a PITA - maybe ;-)

I am at the timing belt now, so I will check it out.
Thanks to all.

Well, I didn't see any sensors under the timing cover. There is a connector on the front of the driver side valve cover, but it doesn't look like a temperature sensor.
