Need some info please.......

Is it possibe to use the RNS E as a stand alone unit? What i mean is this system is for use on modern Audis but if someone (like me) wants to install it on an earlier model? Will it work with the correct wirring or not? As far as i know the unit is not connected to any kind of "Blackbox" on the car so is it possible? I am aware that i do need external things like the sat antenna and the TV receiver and i will have to fabricate the wirring harness in order to suplly power gala pulse speakers ecth. Apart from that? Also is it possible for any of you to post a picture of the top of the unit where you can clearly see the the sticker with the connection in detail? (what goes where like the on below but better)

Thank you very much any help is welcome.

Some answers...

The RNS-E does not use discrete signals for ignition, lights and some other anymore, everything is delivered via CAN. If you don't have the required CAN in your car you will need some CAN adapter that produces the required CAN messages for the RNS-E. The speed signal can be the classic GALA signal if the RNS-E is coded for an A6, otherwise the CAN adapter will need to handle speed as well.

Everything else is pretty straight forward. You will need an active rear system because the RNS-E only has a build in amp for the front speakers. Some Audi CD chanegr will not work anymore and the TV tuner must be one of the newer types (index C or D).

Check out www.navplus.us, lots of info out there.

i am trying to fabricate the central concole of an audi 90 quattro thats the 4000q 4 you so it will accept the RNS-E system. So in terms of CAN plug whats my options? Is there an adapter that manipulates the system in order to make it work or something else? Many thanks for the photo!

One option is this...

You need something like ebay # 270019104339 to create a little CAN that connects to the RNS-E.
