Jacks, jack stands, where do I put them? --> jack pointers inside.
For all the times people ask where to put the jack stand or the jack, I figured I'd post some pics of what works for me. Here's where I do it, no denting of the underbody in these spots. (Disregard the other scars under there...that's where NOT to put your jack or stands ;-).

Best spot for jackstands IMHO is where the DTS attaches.
|
yup, but i use this to go over the spot welds

Sure, that works too....I like this spot because it's easy to reach, works fine.
|
Ya it's more difficult to get to for sure. And you've got to use smaller jackstands or get car HIGH
But I just don't like the area near the pinch welds. I've bent the pich welds and I've bent the flat area where yours is bent as well.
These days I lift with a floor jack on the square PAD area that's deformed in your pic (and on my car too) and place the jackstand under the DTS area. |
Oh I hear ya on the pinch welds, that's why I've oriented as such.
It's rock solid there. Took a little trial and error....but I found the spot ;-)

Are you concerned about ruining the undercoating there?
|
Nahh....no winters down here ;-)
You could always touch it up every once in a while with rubberized undercoating if you were worried about it....quick and easy.

The rocker panels have arrows on them pointing where as to place the jack as well
|
...for the factory jack. I wouldn't place a floor jack in the same spot (ON the pinch weld).
