Front end creak/rattle diagnosis - help

I have an '01 AR with the Arnott coil over replacement. Coil-overs done last August.

Few weeks ago a creaking noise started when turning the steering wheel at low speeds and a substantial rattle when hitting bumps at low speeds. Also a clunk/thump when pressing the brake. All in the front driver side.

I've already replaced the upper control arms - one of which seemed loose. No change. Lower control arms 'seem' fine although lower rear ball joint boot is slightly torn from air bag replacements. Do these symptoms sounds familiar to anyone? I'm fairly good with the fix but not as good with the diagnosis unless its obvious.

And I mention the coil overs for info but dont think it has anything to do with them as its only one side and I had 6-7 months of clunk-free driving.

Thanks in advance!

Does it creak and rattle at all ride heights? First thought would be TRE's and lower control arm. Have someone turn the steering wheel while on the ground and you listen for the creaking to help pinpoint it.

My A4's lower arm will creak while on the ground, but is quiet and solid when jacked up.

Edit: Just noticed that you have coil overs so only one ride height.

Hi, I have 'exactly' the same problems with mine. Were able to diagnos the problem and what was the fix? Thanks.
