Ignition key cylinder removal.
 

Hello all,

I need to know how to remove the ignition lock cylinder from my '87 5000CSQT. I have easy access to the top and the bottom of the housing but I need to know how to slide the cylinder out so that I can replace it - my key wont turn far enough to engage the electrical portion of the switch.

I don't have my book with me at work, but on the 86 there is a pin that needs to be drilled out.
the pin is located at the top near the steering colume. When you drill it out, make sure the drill is no more than the dia of the pin. ( the pin is threaded ) Now take an easy out and unscrew the hollowed out pin. send me a mail if during work hours ..... if you need more info

If this is to fix the 'key not turning far enough' issue
 

you will need to replace the entire cylinder assy.

It has a small pot metal tab that switches the electrical portion. It breaks and can't be fixed.

Had same problem...
 

Turned out to be the swicth not the cylinder. I'd try that first.
