Engine Noise - Turbo? Alternator?
 

2004 C5 45K - noticed louder (and whining) engine noise starting around 44K and started thinking turbo / alternator. Did a brief research on the board but my mileage seems to low to have any turbo problems. My CPO expires in 2010 and obviously want to replace anything and everything before that ;-)
Any thoughts / experience?

Sounds like the turbos too. I wonder if they can be rebuilt or if there is a resonable alternative brand that either costs less or has more durability or more bang for the buck. Our private shop says it will cost over $3,000.00 to fix. Sal

When does the noise happen? Acceleration? Idle? Cruising? Hot? Cold?

you think its the turbos going bad on a 04 with 45k with out even knowing what sound its making...... ps the turbos on our cars are some of the most durable out there, and can be rebuilt for 300 apiece ...
