A8 4.2 turbo kit? Supercharger?

Hi from Australia. I hope Santa was good to you...I have a 2000 model 40 valve 4.2 engine. Does anybody know where I could get a turbo or supercharger kit? ...and does anybody know why the D3 RS6 is only 32 valves and turbo'd. Maybe the guys at Audi head office know something that we don't know...why are the 4.2 turbos 32 vales? Anyhow, any info/advice would be greatfully accepted, like, do I need to change the piston heads, bearings, my brain? Should I buy a used 4.2 turbo (if there is one!) and re-do it...or just buy another 4.2 engine and start from scratch. What I did find out was that the gearbox in the 2000 A8 is the same as the one in the twin-turbo RS6 etc...so at least I don't need to change that (until it goes BANG!)...anyways, send any info from around the world and have yourselves a Happy New Year...regards, Oscar from Sydney..

There are none. Reputedly ARP is working on one. Prob for S4 first.

There has been a couple bi-turbo s8's IIRC. One in Brazil and one in Germany

Your best shot is to custom jobby one. The problem is finding someone to redo your ECU.

As for the S/c there is yet to be a legitimate one available, but if you can spare your car for a couple months and have about $15k layin around, I will bet you could talk PaulW.

PES tuning is also, supposedly, working on one.

MTM has one for the D3 but not for the D2.

Here's my basic calcs for a 450 HP output

STS has opened a HQ in Australia. They have a generic remote turbo kit.

They can be set up for between 5 and 15 pounds of boost.

In 2005, STS received General Motors' Performance Engineering Excellence award for this system.

They boast having one of the coolest charge temps in the industry.

Many kits sold, many happy people.

Let us know what you do .. no A8 people have tried this yet.

You can google STS Remote Turbo for the site link.

No, but the only thing that would change is 11:1 CR

Which changes the heat generated due to compression on one of the pages.

is there really that much of a difference between 10.8:1 and 11:1?

It seems minor, but I know nothing of engine compression.

For some unknown reason the last straw is always heavier than the first.

Wow I just came across one of my old posts...FYI I did eventually do the supercharger kit and finished up putting much of what I did at this link:

I blew up my first engine after 50,000km...and did a full rebuild...now on a trek to replace the supercharger with twin turbos...here we go again...regs, Oscar from Australia
