Traded in my 2011 2.0T for a 2014 TDI...

Took my 2011 2.0T in for 45k service today. The royalty sales asked me if I'm interested in trading in for a new one.

I asked, you have any TDI Q5s? She goes, YES and let me show you.

So I caved in after a test drive. Negotiated a great trade in value, financing rates and few extra services throw-in.

So far? I LOVE IT. I mean that TDI is almost night and day compare to the 2.0T. Response time and torque-wise that is. The overall ride, especially when downshifting is a lot smoother than the 2.0T.

Also love the proximity key and auto stop.

I'll start keep a track of the mileage I get out of it.

Now I just gotta be careful when going to the pump lol.

Your TDI is a beautiful car. I looked at it at Rusnak last week when I was having my 125,000 mile service done. I wished they would have had the TDI available here in the states back then. I am still very happy with my 3.2, but would certainly consider the TDI for the future.

I'm sure you will love it. We got one in December and just took it for its first road trip from Tulsa to Dallas last weekend. We had a nice tail wind going down but then got stuck in traffic for over an hour in Dallas--which I figured would ruin the mileage. Did about 100 miles running around Dallas and then back to Tulsa on Sunday. Total trip was 638 miles on 18.3 gallons = 34.8mpg. I find that to be outstanding and I know others have claimed similar results. I also love the torque and smoothness of this engine. Very happy with the car.

Nice! Congrats. I'm sure the almost double torque is fun. :)

Congrats! I'm getting close to 10k miles in my TDI and couldn't be happier! :D

Congrats and great choice! Of course, I may be biased... :)

Quick questions for all you Diesel buyers. I know better mpg is a big plus for the diesels, but isn't that somewhat offset by the higher price of diesel fuel, as well as the higher price of the car itself and inconvenience of not having diesel fuel available at many stations?

Do you mind letting me know what you got for the trade-in?

My wife's 2011 2.0T is coming up on 45k.

I didn't specifically buy mine for the fuel economy, granted it was a considering factor. The premium over the 2.0T is $5,300 which I think was well worth it coming from the 2.0T. Prices at the pump are negligible here in WA maybe a 10cent difference. In the 50k miles I keep the car the premium for the TDI comes down to about $2,500.
