2014 Audi Q7
After a quick browse of a few of the reports floating around, the new version is sounding good. I like the twin turbo 4.0 V8 rumour. Add that to being 650 pounds skinnier, its performance should ensure that even a drop bear would leave a stain.

http://www.blueswami.com/photo_parse..._large&id=1829 but I dont think that expression travels. Are you running over it cos the car is so fast and even a drop bear couldnt get away? |
;) .. wrong sort of drop bear. But you are on the right track, so here are some more clues :)
When the "official" drop bear attacks, he drops sliently and doesnt leave a trace from wence he come, but as he is a fat little bear, when he hits the ground, the sound he makes is a "plop" now consider the above in the context of a bowel movement. so if you were in a pub a little aways off the beaten track, and the road corragations had packed it all in over the last 1000k's... you would casually say to your mates as you rose from the table to vist the loo... "im off to let a few drop bears go" |

It really shouldn't be a problem. Weight has always been the Q7's achilles heel...they are going to move to the modified platform that the new Cayanne is on with lighter chassis components and lighter and stronger body stampings. They took 400 lbs. out of the last gen Cayenne.

charming... so you are saying should be frighteningly quick.

Reading a recent reveiw on the S8 with the 4.0 Bi- turbo. It apparantely generates 520HP and 650NM. Given this sort of performance and the technology around dropping one of the banks for fuel efficency, does anyone think the V12 in the Q7 will continue to be part of the line up?
Further will we see a "S" version in the Q7 range? |
Engines and S's
Engine discussion from Automobile Mag's recent "Deep Dive" on Q product strategy:
"The Q8 will be derived from the 2014 Q7, but it won't adopt the lesser model's new four-cylinder base engine. Instead, we should expect to see two gas-powered V-6 engines delivering 230 and 300 hp, a 250-hp 3.0-liter V-6 TDI and a 400-hp 4.2-liter V-8 TDI, plus the S Q8 boasting the same 550-hp twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 from the S6/S7/S8. In addition, spies are predicting two plug-in hybrids: one mated to a gas-powered four-cylinder TFSI unit, and the other paired with a V-6 TDI motor." No mention of a V-12 or an S Q7. Also, even after shedding 800 lbs., it's hard to imagine the Q7 with a four-banger. See link: http://www.automobilemag.com/feature...s_the_q_range/ -ark |
Thanks for the link. I hadnt seen the article before. So from the sounds of it, we have to wait until 2016 for the Bi - Turbo.
It makes sense though and history is proof that the order is.., first... new shape, old engines... second... same shape, new engines. |
Id like to suggest the interior will follow a similar upgrade like the new A6...in terms of the instrument dial layout and MMI remaining same as current updated q7 models.
Also we should see the surround cameras coming soon too (i.e. additional camera on the front)... |
