The Bloomberg article states the starting price for the Macan will be $49,900 but the starting price for the Cayenne this year is $49,600. Something isn't right there...

Pricing is also posted on AutoBlog:

Just as the Macan embargo was up, Porsche updated its consumer site with basic pricing information for the new vehicle. The Macan S will start at $49,900, while the Macan Turbo asks an MSRP of $72,300. Thanks to all those that tipped in with the information.

The S model will be fitted with a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine that makes 340 horsepower and will push the vehicle from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 5.2 seconds, then on to a top speed of 156 miles per hour. The Macan Turbo has even more impressive figures on all fronts: an all-new, 400-horsepower, twin-turbo 3.6-liter V6 engine; 0-60 mph in 4.6 seconds; top speed of 164 mph. Both models make use of Porsche's seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission as standard.

Like it a lot!
BTW, Porsche USA website already has the build feature up...

Just speced one with metallic paint, pano roof, nav, headed seats, and that's about it. $57K. Comes reasonably close to the SQ5 which is probably the best comparison.

It's a shame they are holding out on the base, non-S model. That might actually come close to a Q5 3.0T in price. Within a couple thousand maybe.

Interesting, when i priced it out with everything that comes with the SQ5 I was upwards of $74k (21 inch wheels, ADS, leather interior, Nav + parking sensors and camera, keyless entry and start, carbon fiber interior, upgraded side skirts, dimming mirrors, etc).

Reasonably close? I built Macan S with comparable options (to my SQ5) and it came out to over $73k.

The base Cayenne is spartan and has a weak V6. It's exists as a hook to get people into the showroom, then the Porsche beatdown begins.

I like the video of the Macan being driven through Vancouver with the German plates.

That's because Porsche is launching the Macan with the two most premium and sportiest models first (Macan S and Macan Turbo), with cheaper base models sure to come later. I'm sure a less expensive base model (maybe using VAG's 2.0T motor) will follow, and maybe even a diesel and/or hybrid version like what the Q5 has. But for now there's only two flavors: fast and super fast, so prepare your wallets because Porsche is eager to rape you with options pricing too :)

Otherwise, I like it. Might trade the SQ5 for a Turbo in a couple of years if/when the gf gets tired of it.
