+20.4 whp and + 20.7 lb-ft

Nuff said.

Exhaust???

If so, perhaps we can allay somoe of the fears of our resident skeptics.

Der Kimbo 11-22-2006 02:57 PM

Yup...the plot is, well, amazing.

But watch there will be skeptics saying I'm in on the "conspiracy".

Can you refresh the memories here? Is this res or non-res? And is this just a cat-back?

Very impressive, btw.

Re: Yup...the plot is, well, amazing.

so was this just cat back or cat back/downpipes?

Der Kimbo 11-22-2006 03:12 PM

Non-Res, No valves, just cat-back as I want to document the gains separately for the DP's

Vijay 11-22-2006 03:23 PM

These numbers are really encouraging!!!!!.....more complete info now needed

If the gains were something like 5-6 hp, I would have said that is within the individual variation from engine to engine, or between successive dyno runs with the same car in the same state of tune. 20hp and 20lb-ft however is tough to try and "fake". We need at least a few more vehicles to be tested under similar conditions to solidify the claims.

Good initial showing, however.

We need to know:

1. Exact mods
2. Air temp/elevation/humidity of test conditons in modded car vs. stock car
3. Type of Dyno-I assume stock vs. modded was tested on the same dyno
4. # of runs performed in stock state vs. modded state
5. Fuel octane rating
6. Was the test done using one car pre and post mods, or two cars, one stock and one modded? If different, what were the miles on each car?

Like I said, your numbers indicate there is definitely some gain, but whether the full 20hp is readily reproducible is the question. Am I skepical?....Yes....but less so.

ESFO 11-22-2006 03:26 PM

Again, very impressive.

My only criticism is that it's being dynoed in different temperatures, humidity, barometric pressure and mileage (I'm assuming you're on the same dyno). So, your results won't be as accurate as they could (vs. dynoing on the same day, 1 mod at a time). But even with this, your results speak well for the increases to be found by just doing an exhaust.

Answers to your questions:

1) Just the Cat-Back
2) 72 degrees, 68% Humidity, 8 feet MSL (Climate Controlled Dyno Room so the conditions are identical each time)
3) Dynojet
4) 3 for each
5) 93 (Exxon - Mobil)
6) My car both times. 1587 for the baseline - 1701 for today.

Der Kimbo 11-22-2006 03:32 PM

See above regarding your critisims...the only variable is mileage.

The car needs time for the lambda return, in this case I used the car for 7 hours and just over 100 miles in between.
