2001 A4 Error Code 16795 Secondary air injection system incorrect flow detected

I found out why I'm getting the CEL, but now I don't know where to look to fix it. I did a search on this forum, but all the images for the different posts do not appear. Does anyone have images of the pieces I need to look at or replace? Thanks.

I wish I knew...

...I paid the dealer $150 to swap out a hose (and test the sh!t out of it apparently) only to have the CEL reappear the next day. I guess it's my fault for going to the dealership...

Looking forward to hearing your results...

You need to lok at your vacuum hose at your egr vavle on the back of your head

your secondary air pump could be shot.

I've been dealing with this for 1 year and 3 months. AoA is finally involved (long)

my secondary air pump keeps being replaced and it keeps failing again within a week or two. Then last year my dealer (Carousel in Iowa City = CROOKS) told me that they couldn't do it under repair warranty because it had expired. They told me that each subsequent repair does not reset the warranty. I told them it was BS and they wouldn't release my car to me until I paid the $92 diagnosis fee even though I knew what it was before bringing it to them. I even told them my pump went again.

So now I go to a different dealer, AoA will most likely refund me the diagnosis fee and the second time I had to pay for the repair since I went to a different dealer, they wouldn't honor repair warranty from the other dealer. Wednesday I'll get another pump installed, it's been so many I honestly lost count.

To make things worse neither dealer would give me loaners since I bought my car out of state. My local dealer wouldn't offer me shuttle home even though it's only 10 minutes away. It's a little out of town in the next town so they won't go there, although some places "in town" are further than my condo. So I usually have to take time off work or skip class to get serviced.

Sorry, had to get it off my chest. I'm so frustrated with this situation. I'm afraid my check engine light will burn out soon, it's been on more than off for the past year or so! And always for this same problem they can't remedy. I've lost so much time and money dealing with this. Add all the headaches and stress... UGH.

i hope you searched the archives..ive posted something many times on this.

specifically to our model year. ATW, 2000.

this is from a published "tech tip" that was sent to all audi dealers. show this to your dealership.
if you dont replace the valve each pump you install will crap out. i really hope you searched the archives.

"In the event you have an A4 1.8T with engine code ATW with the DTC of 16795 - Secondary Air Injection system, Incorrect flow Detected, a leaking Combination valve could be the problem. A leaking valve causes exhaust gas to enter the secondary air system. The water from exhaust condensation travels through the entire secondary air injection system and if the temperature drops below 0 degrees Celsius the water will freeze. In most cases the water causes the air pump to corrode. Inspecting the combination valve will reveal the problem. If the Intake side of the valve is black, exhaust has entered the secondary air injection system."

I did, thank you. Someone also pointed that out to me, I think it may have even been you a few

months back. They still can't get it right.

Hey Mod - does that not apply to 2001.5's? I'm having the same error code.

TIA
