ttime to replace the timing belt 2001 a6 2.8l

2001 A6 2.8l 30v engine
now reach 68000 miles?

I bought is two years ago on 40000miles. I heard audi timing belt worn also by age.

I plan to take a 4000miles roadtrip next month. Should I wait to 80000 or 100000 to replace or I should do it now?

You're belts are 11 years old. If it were me I'd bite the bullet and do the whole job now and have peice of mind.

Do it now. It's not so much the old timing belt as the old water pump, tensioner, idler bearings, etc.

I bought a 2002 A6 about a month ago with 89k miles on it. I did the timing belt replacement right away - the belt had stress cracks on it. The bigger problem though was the water pump had a small leak. My mechanic charged about 1k to do the timing belt replacement. I'm not handy with tools so better to pay the piper.

Not so much a problem..the WP is supposed to be replaced with the TB.
