Car Overheating after replacing thermostat and waterpump. Help?
 

So recently I've been having some overheating problems with my 2004 a4, at first I suspected it was the thermostat so I bought a new one and replaced it, also replaced the water pump. I did a coolant flush and replaced it with all new g12 coolant. But, My car is still overheating. Although my temperature gauge is in the middle I assume it has malfunctioned and is not working properly since my car gets extremely hot just by driving it down the street. I don't think it could be a blown head gasket since I have no coolant in my oil, or oil in my coolant. Maybe my radiators clogged?? I'm not sure what it could be.

What do you guys think or know? and if you have had a problem similar to this one please let me know how I could resolve this issues before heading to the stealership.

- Also I'd like to add that the coolant reservoir hose builds up an extreme amount of pressure, and the fans take forever to turn on. maybe its the fans? I think its something else tho

If you don't mind me asking, what makes you think it's overheating if the temp gauge reads normal?

sorry for the late reply, Well, it throws out smoke from the engine, and my coolant builds up an extreme amount of pressure to where the coolant hose looks like its going to explode. so I figure its overheating, and also I don't really trust my temperature gauge since its always seems to jump up and down from warm to cold in a matter of seconds.

Is your check engine light on by chance? If you think your temp guage is incorrect and your fans don't come on when their suppose to, I would look into a faulty coolant temp sensor. As that should control your temp guage as well as send signals to your ecu telling it when to turn on the radiator fans. But I believe it should throw a cel if it's out of spec. As far as the smoking goes, I would try to figure out exactly where the smoke is originating from. If your guage is jumping up and down randomly, from what iv read is a fairly common problem, it's the coolant temp sensor. Very simple fix. As far as the overheating goes, I'd trouble shoot the temp guage and go from there. It's much easier knowing if your car is overheating when the guage works :)
