what are people getting for real world gas mileage?

I know the theory, but for me, the real numbers don't come close to the ratings. Most local driving gives me about 13mpg. I have gotten 21 mpg on the highway driving between 75-90. Spirited driving gets me about 10-11 mpg.

Currently, my long term memory is showing 17.3 mpg with an average spped of 43 mph and my short term memory is showing 12.8 mpg with an average speed of 30.

Check out Fuelly.com. They show 16 - 20 MPG

Totally depends on driving style and city/hwy mix. On a recent highway trip to the Columbia gorge, I got 26 mpg. Shorter trips, when I'm blasting around town, it's closer to 14 mpg. We'll see what my first full tank averages out to.

I also just came from an E90 M3 and am hoping to get better overall mileage. Never saw over 17.5mpg on that car and with the smallish gas tank it wasn't uncommon to be filling up every 225 miles.

Average over 10,000 miles is 18.6 mpg (US). Low has been 5.2 (track day) and highway mileage is somewhere north of 24 mpg (with indicated cruising mpg of close to 30).

Fuelly average, 19 mpg.

Recent 150 mile highway run with cruise control set at 80. Car computer said 25.3, based on gas consumed by measurement at fill-up mileage was 24.4 mpg.

I think my city average comes out to around 15-16 MPG which drags my fuelly number down. On the highway if I'm driving like a reasonable person, I'll get 24-26 MPG.

The EPA figures are not based on blasting away from stoplights which is awfully hard not to do in this car lol.

You're getting right in line with what I'm getting. I was a little disappointed but what can you do? I thought the cylinder deactivation would've helped more but it appears to be active only when the car is coasting with foot off the gas and NOT when the car is stopped at a red light or in bumper-to-bumper traffic going 5-10 mph.

17.2 in mostly suburban traffic over 3000 miles.

I get around 25 on the highway that I've calculated when the computer says I'm getting a little over 26. I typically drive between 80 and 100 on the highway. Around town the computer says I get 16 which I usually have heavy acceleration from lights. I don't typically calculate in my town driving so I'm not sure if it is off by the same amount.
