How much does an Audi replacement key cost?

Hi, Does anyone know how much it costs to get a replacement key?

I know sales people will try to inflate prices when they are selling you the key replacement warranty, but how much do the keys really cost?

They have to be coded with all others and the car via the mothership in AG. The dealership has to actually book time to connect and recode the whole set so no you are not getting out of it cheap!

The minimum price would be the cost to buy it online at an internet wholesaler plus ship and then a half hour labor plus the computer fee to get the code and tax. More likely is 1 hour labor.

So as a rough estimate, under $100 for parts plus $130 labor.

How do you lose a car key anyways unless someone steals it?

I haven't lost one. But I am wondering whether the key replacement warranty is worth it because if it's extremely expensive to replace a key, it may be worth it.

I havent replace an Audi key, but my old Lexus key cost $350 to replace, so expect something in that price range if you buy it from the dealer.

I think something to really factor in is if you've ever lost a car key before. If you haven't, there's little reason to think you would, and spending money on a key warranty may not be worth it, whereas if you've lost a few in the past I'd say go for it. It's not an Audi as reference, however its still within the same parent company, but it cost over $200 to replace a key to a Jetta when I had one, and this was over five years ago, and for a much simpler key. My Audi sales guy said it runs just shy of $400 to replace one for the A4 and the Q5 I have.

yes, $350 and the dealer did everything. So this guy cut and program the key for $80?

I recently lost the small wallet-key after surfing (its a great little key to keep in your suit/trunks during surfing and no electronics get messed up, and to just open the doors)
Ordered a new one (actually 2 pcs) from my dealer, and I think I remember them being pretty pricey, like 'oh-yeah-I-have-an-Audi pricey'.... could be 80 or 120 bucks each

I've, and by that I mean my wife, lost 1 of my master smartkeys. Does anyone know where to get one online? The stealership want's $200 just for the parts.
