pull the light housing out from the forward side of it and ti should pop out. Twist the bulb counter clockwise until its free. Pull the bulb out...

Per Bentley Manual, you need to access the housing from the backside...
 

by removing the noise damper panel, and then press the clips that hold the housing in-place and push out. Then you remove it as haha bye says.

Is the noise damper panel the plastic piece under the car? The side marker bulb I'm trying to get to in the front passenger side marker.

Haha - the side marker lens is smooth and flush to the car, is there a trick to popping it out?

Yes, that's the panel to remove, and that is why you need to depress the clips from the backside...
 

before you pull the housing on the outside of the fender.

Don't, sand down the housing and then paint it to match your car, i did, looks much better. But
 

since you have to get to it anyway because of a fault code i presume, have to go in through the back i believe.

Can you get at the bulb (for replacement) from under the hood or under the car. What is the best approach for replacing this bulb?

I just used a small/thin screw driver to pop out the outside (previously yellow) marker.
