window regulator replacement instructions
 

I am helping a friend by repairing their Audi A6 Quattro whose driver window will not go up. I have never worked on an Audi before and do not have a repair manual on it. I removed the inner door panel and found the regualtor to be defective as I expected.

Anyone here have any instructions for removing and reinstalling the regulator? Sometimes, there are "tricks" that are not always obvious to the first-timer like me. i clicked on the Resources tab at the top of this web page but found no links to repair or service manuals. i usually work on Toyotas and their manuals are available on several forums such as this one but I have found no Audi manuals.

You may just need the clips. The cheap blue clips break easily where they connect to the cable. You can buy just the newer metal reinforced orange clips online or from the dealer. Keep track of where the two metal wedges are before you loosen any bolts to make sure everything lines up right when you put it back together.

I missed the email notification of your reply and just saw it this morning - - about 10 minutes before the friend was to show up with the car for me to install the new regulator. I told him to go back home until I get the new clips.

Make sure you mark where the large torx bolts and wedges are before you loosen anything. I did't when I took mine apart and I had to fine tune it to get it right later. I think he mentions that towards the end of the video.
