Back me up about a 2.0T
 

So i just got shot down really bad after i told someone i had a 2.0T. They said basically that "its an engine on roids" and that it wouldn't last long and that i was better off getting a 3.2 Liter. Can anyone explain to me about the benefits of this FSI engine with the turbo?

nah the 2.0 is likely better than the 1.8T which is quite stout

I agree with Ray Khan- I have a 1.8t and it's great. The 2.0 should be that much better.
 

I have been running the GT28rs set up for a while now and pushing the motor to aprx. 300HP. I have 92k miles and car runs great.
The FSI is direct fuel injection into the combustion chamber vs into the intake manifold. Better power and fuel economy. The 2.0 is built well and with proper main. with oil changes consisting of syth. oil 200k miles should not be an issue.

Speaking from experience in both worlds, the 1.8t and the 2.0t, I enjoy both. Obviously a big benefit of the 2.0t is the bigger displacement over the late 1.8t, and the new fueling setup that is on these FSI cars.

I just purchased a 07 A3 2.0T S-Line and I gotta say that this motor from the factory is very peppy. As far as stateing that its a motor that will not last long, I COMPLETELY disagree with that. This motor will be completly reliable and you should not experience problems even with modification.

I have done the ECU upgrade on mine within about the first 800 miles and I cannot say how SMOOTH and FAST this has made my Audi. Completly night and day difference. Please dont hesitate to ask if you have any further questions about this engine, I will be more than happy to put my input on this subject, as I am new to the Audi's, BUT not in the dept of VW/AUDI performance.

I drove a 1.8t and there was a lot of vibration at idle. Is the 2.0t rough at idle too?

Yes, definitely. I have 8,000 miles on my A4, and it vibrates a lot. I read somewhere that this has more to do with the quattro drivetrain than the engine itself. Whatever the cause, it's never bothered me that much, and apparently isn't unusual with Audis.
