Oil Smell from 02 A6 2.7T
Hi everyone, first post ever! I just purchased an 02 A6 2.7T with 105k miles on the clock. The car smells of a slight burning oil smell from the drivers side in the front of the engine when the engine is idling and also smells slightly in the cabin only when the car is not moving and stopped. Is this normal or should I take the car in to the mechanic for a closer look?

Also, there are some oil drips, maybe 4-5 drops when left overnight.

Cam adjuster seals. STFA.

Sorry what does STFA mean? Also is this a big job?

Valve cover gaskets, chain tensioner gaskets, rear cam plugs will solve your problem. Dont do just one or the other, All 3 for a long lasting successful repair. yes its rather time consuming.

Most, if not all of the issues people have with these cars have already been discussed one way or the other. Anyway, STFA means... Search The Fvcking Archives... :) In any event, the task to fix the oil leaks is a bit involved... I gather that you will search now? :) |

Wow. I feel pretty stupid right now. Anyways, these forums are amazing! I've already found out why turn signals don't work properly (need to replace hazard switch).
Hopefully nothing else breaks on this car. Thanks for all the help |
