Camshaft position sensor error ......help??
Hi Guys,
About 5 months back I started getting a cam position sensor fault code, so I had it replaced to avoid getting stuck one day. About a week ago I got a check engine light, checked, and it was the camshaft sensor fault again. As it was under warranty, I had the sensor replaced. All seemed well until over the weekend I was driving on the highway, and all of a sudden the check engine light comes on. Checked and it is the same fault code. :-( I pulled the timing belt cover and everything seems fine with the sensor. The wires leading to the connector, next to the injector rail, seem fine as well. Here are the errors I am getting on the VAG. I cleared them but they keep coming back, even at idle now. 00515 - Camshaft Position (Hall) Sensor (G40) 29-10 - Short to Ground - Intermittent 00515 - Camshaft Position (Hall) Sensor (G40) 02-10 - Signal Shorted to Ground - Intermittent Should I be testing continuity from the large ECU plug to the connector for the CPS? Is this what the errors are pointing to? If anyone has experienced this I would appreciate any information. Thanks. |
What did you replace the CPS with? OE Bosch or BB Automacao BBHME301?

Replaced it with Bosch

Then all you can do start with is check for continuity of the wires back to the ECU. Otherwise, you
will be into changing it. Seems strange that it would fail so hope for a pinched wire somewhere.

Thanks. I'll check and see what I find from the ECU harness back to the plug for the sensor.
