1994 100S wagon - Fan won't shut off.
Fan won't shut off. Had to pull out relay under the hood to stop it. Never happened in the 6 years I've had this car. Drove home 10 miles on wet roads. Wet wires, short, bad relay??? Any help appreciated.

Looks as though the relay for the fans are still energized if you had to pull one to shut the fan off. The relay could be bad and the contacts are sticking, or you have a short that is still supplying power to the relay when you turn the engine off.
Your car have a fan controller/resistor V7 are the two fans J26 and J135 are the relays J135 relay is for high speed as you can see that it bypass the fan controller/resistor. If the low speed fan is running I would check relay J26. check the relay and the circuit that supplies current to energize the relay. https://forums.audiworld.com/picture...ctureid=235963 |

I turned the car off and plugged in the relay. The fan started right away. I unplugged the relay and smacked it on my hand and plugged it back in. The fan stopped. I turned the car on and the fans started and then stopped when I turned the car off. It seems to be working. I'm not sure if the problem is solved, but sure hope it is. Will post again if problem reoccurs. Thanks again for your help. Rob Will post again if problem reoccurs. |
