The car has 3 fuse boxes. Each fuse box has short description as to what certain things are. There is fuse box that you can get to when you open the driver or front passenger door. Open the front driver car door. Look to the left of the headlight switch. You should see a plastic panel that is not visible when the door is closed. (its the side/end of the dashboard) If you kneel down and look at the under side of this end panel you will see two holes about the size of your car key blade. Use a flat head screw driver or insert your key and pry back the side panel.

The passenger side door should have the same arrangement.

In the trunk I forget which side has the fuse panel. But a flat head screw driver will allow you to turn the quarter turn black plastic screws on the left you'll see the DVD drive for the nav, and on the right you'll find the battery. One of those two sides should hold the fuse box.

There are fuses in the trunk too...

on both sides. The lighting wires generally head toward the rear lights from the passenger side where the battery is (though I don't know about the license plate lights).

Simple as it may sound, you may want to check the bulbs first. Yes, it's possible they both burned out.

I agree with MP4.2+6.0

I had one burnt out and the other had the glass very dark so it would probably burn out real soon. They are common pretty standard bulbs available from Pep Boys etc. No need for dealer parts for them.
