5cyl 20vt motor
 

who has the most powerful i-5 20vt setup on here? i currently have a 1.8t a4 with a pes kit,etc. but i am very interested in the 5cyl 20vt and am thinkin about maybe a 20vt turbo project.

ps. does anyone know about how difficult champagne's 20vt swap into their 1997 a4 was?

And Champagne's car needed a good amount of fab work from what I remember seeing, especially to get a radiator in the car with the much longer AAN motor.

Difficult is an understatement,
 

The I5 simply does not fit in an A4. The nose is all custom and they had to put the IC up top subby style to make room for any kind of decent radiator. They obviously got it all to work, but it is a hill climb car, and not something you want to do with a street car.

If you're going to keep the A4, swap in a VR6 and turbo it. It will fit and will make just as much if not more than an I5 built to the same specs :) You'll just have to figure out how to bolt it up and the clutch. THere was a good MG thread on it a few weeks ago. Not sure what the final word was on how to do it though.
