A6 C5 2003 facelift halogen to bi-xenon

Hello guys!

I am new in this forum and i have a one idea what i want to do with my car. I want to put bi-xenon to my car, but i don't have any idea how it supposed to work and if it is possible. So guys maybe you can help me some tutorials or links where this kind of project have been done.

There is no quick and easy way to install bi-xenon lights because no C5 Audi came with them. Only regular xenon. Someone retrofitted theirs with bi-xenon projectors from other make, but that's beyond the amount of work you want to put into your car.

Your best bet is to update to factory HIDs. For this you'll need the new headlights with leveling motors, ballasts, wiring, and wheel sensors. Also VCDS software.

What else is needed, not sure, but this is a start.

Actually, 2002+ C5s had bi-xenon lamps (with internal shutter), although many think they are not bi-xenon because they have a duplicative halogen high beam bulb. The projectors are much bigger than the regular xenon lamps found on the 2001 and earlier models.

FYI - there is no way to retrofit the whole 2002+ headlamp assembly into a pre-2002 A6 (different shapes), but you could possibly figure out a way to swap internals. TeddyBGame did this with his halogen-equipped A6 avant 2.8, but I think he stuck to pre-facelift (2001 and earlier) xenon projectors.

That's interesting, thanks for clearing it up. My Allroad, although 2005, uses pre-facelift headlights (as all C5 allroads), so no bi-xenons. I don't think my 2001 A6 4.2 had them either, though it had the facelift design already (as did 2000 A6 4.2).

This is an upgrade i've thinking of but never got around to due to other important repairs. 2001 4.2 does not have bi-xenons. Only low beam is HID. I don't know if I'll even do this upgrade, the housing is turning cloudy again and I sanded them once before. Perhaps, next time I'll clear coat them after sanding :).

Just put the 3M film.

Correct. allroad used pre-facelift xenons through 2005, and 4.2 had non-bixenon lamps 2000 and 2001.
