Width of the wheels/tire contact area front and rear.

On Front wheel cars...the Front wheels sit out further then the rear wheels.

On Rear wheel cars...Front and rear are the same or The rear wheels sit out further than the front.
Like a 911, Ferrari...etc.

All wheel drive....Who ta F knows...every manufacture can differ..

Wow, i never knew that! Why is it that the front wheels sit out further? More grip? (m)
 
I noticed on my 2000 1.8TQ A4 the front track is about 20 mm wider than the rear! Not noticable with the naked eye!

it's the distance between the center of the contact patches for the axle.
