MMI Components

Greetings

I'm using a fiber optic bypass tool to try and identify which component is preventing my system from running.

I bypassed 7 so far:

Three in the back wheel well
One under the front drivers seat carpet
One in the glove box
Two behind the glove box

Can someone tell if or where the others are?

Also, whatever component that is supposed to be generating the fiber signal is apparently doing so as I can see the red light at each wire when I've unplugged them.

Car is apart so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Chris

84 views and no one knows or has had to deal with this before!?!

Hello

Well it looks to me that if you started in the trunk and tested each fiber optic component one at a time and ended up at the MMI control head module behind the glove box last, then I think it would be the MMI control head as it is the Control Head, bypassing the MMI CH would yield no operation.

Are you going to scan and post said scan so we may have more information to help diagnose your problem ?

Also be sure to run an "Optic Scan".

Have you checked all the buttons on console for sticking, any spills on buttons ?

Thanks

Yes, I did a scan

Optical Bus Diagnostic : 3dB Attenuation

Controller...........Electrical.Optical
19-CAN Gateway.......OK.........ERROR
07-Control Head......ERROR......ERROR
0E-Media Player 1....OK.........ERROR
77-Telephone.........OK.........ERROR
47-Sound System......OK.........ERROR
67-Voice Control.....OK.........ERROR
56-Radio.............OK.........ERROR
37-Navigation........OK.........ERROR
0F-Digital Radio(SAT.OK.........ERROR

Also, no spills or stuck buttons.

At this point if anyone can recommend a competent shop here in Southern California I'll take it over, otherwise I'm off to the dealership. My experience with them is typically Replace Replace Replace.

WAIT A MINUTE.......

??? Why did you start a new thread ???

You all ready had a thread where you were getting answers from people who are trying to help you, then you make a comment "84 views and no one knows or has had to deal with this before!?!" what's with that....

Now I see your scan in the other thread you started for the same exact problem, and it looks to me if you did all of the other modules one at a time and nothing came on, then I say MMI CH is the culprit, I have personally helped people from this board with the same situation as you and it was the MMI CH.

Your new scan shows plain and simple that the MMI Control Head has "ERROR ERROR" all the rest show "OK" for electric but no optic.

Controller...........Electrical.Optical
19-CAN Gateway.......OK.........ERROR
07-Control Head......ERROR......ERROR
0E-Media Player 1....OK.........ERROR
77-Telephone.........OK.........ERROR
47-Sound System......OK.........ERROR
67-Voice Control.....OK.........ERROR
56-Radio.............OK.........ERROR
37-Navigation........OK.........ERROR
0F-Digital Radio(SAT.OK.........ERROR

Thanks Johhny J...

Sorry if the double thread was out of line......I had a separate question on module counts and I didn't want it to get lost in my previous two pages of scans.

I did bypass that too but I guess doing that was pointless if it controls everything

Off to ebay or the internet for finding a control module.

Thanks again

Remote repair is difficult by default, but bypassing answers makes it impossible.

"If the system start working it is bypassed module. Or at the end MMI Control Module".

If it was not clear enough we could clear it in a next post. New tread doesn't help at all.
