News on MP3 and iPod integration from Audi
 

<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/15079/media2.jpg"></center><p>This applies for the MMI equipped Audi vehicles, namely the A6, Q7 and A8 model ranges.

Starting this November, Audi will offer an MP3 capable CD changer (we've know that for a while now).

The more exciting news is that they will also offer a "music interface" that will work with iPods as well as other music players (see attched picture, sorry about the quality, it's a photograph of an article in a German car magazine I found on the Web - it's legit, not doctored. My picture poster has a photo of the complete page with German text).

The iPod interface seems to really integrate the iPod functionality, not a simulated CD changer setup as I have seen before. They talk about a USB interface as well, as part of the music interface.

No word on the ability to retrofit this to cars produced prior to November 2006. In Germany, the music interface will be a EURO 250 option, maybe it will be part of the technology package in the Americas once it is available.

Wow, that looks promising, especially about the USB interface and not locking customers into the iPod, which I despise. I hope they have a retrofit for the 2005-2006 models.

Based on the description that sounds like the Dension kit.
 

They've been talking about it for months. Always delayed.

Except that this one seems to work :)

If Audi doesn't offer as a retrofit, they'll miss out on a lot of potential sales of this.
 

I use an FM modulator now, but would love seamless integration of my iPod.

Would this impact the S4's (changer or iPod)?

Based on the story and pictures, this IS the Dension model.

I doubt it, the S4 does not have the MOST bus
